Game Recap

After qualifying for the State Tournament last night, the Zeeland Women’s water polo team finished 4th place while hosting the Regional Tournament.

The team started the day by falling to eventual Champion and the #1 team in the State, Hudsonville 15-5. In the third place game, Zeeland got off to a slow start and fell to Rockford 6-3.

Sam Hoeve, Brooke Elenbaas, Jessica Brown, and Morgan Bullock each scored twice on the day. Morgan Beers made 13 saves on the day including 9 against Rockford (her first career Varsity start). Emma Nellis made 6 saves.

“We played a little tired today. Last night in a must win game, the girls gave everything that they had to qualify and left it all in the pool. I am very proud of the team for continuing to battle and fight on every possession. Morgan Beers played outstanding again Rockford in goal. She’s a freshmen, but played like a veteran.” -Coach Dave Vruggink
