Game Recap

The Zeeland Women’s Water Polo team fell to Jenison 10-8 in Overtime this morning in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of State Tournament. Both teams traded goals most of the game.

Jenison led 7-5 with 2:30 remaining. Morgan Bullock scored off a beautiful pass from Paige Hoeve to pull within one. With 21 seconds left, Morgan scored again on a 2m shot from Paige again.

Jessica Brown opened up the OT period with a perfect corner shot from outside, but alas, Jenison pulled away with great outside shooting of their own.

Zeeland plays again at 3:45 against Ann Arbor Huron. Morgan Bullock is 2 goals (92) away from tying the school record (94-Sarah Heemstra, 2015). Paige Hoeve continues to raise the bar on the team steals record with 104 total and Sam Hoeve keeps raising her shot blocking record (35).

“Once again, we played a great game. We came out a little tired both physically and emotional after last night, but rebounded well. The seniors came to play this weekend. I want to see them out with a win this afternoon!” -Coach Dave Vruggink
