Meet Recap

The Zeeland boys varsity bowling team pumped out some big scores at the conference tournament on Saturday. The boys went back and forth between first and second place with Byron Center. The guys performed well during the individual games with high scores by Jacob Salas (288, 230), Tyler DeJonge (238, 215, 214), Phillip Wiegand (225, 226, 226), Zach Baum (203, 216), and Gabe Reyes (205, 203). Jacob Salas had the highest one game of the conference with an impressive 288. The guys were up by 11 pins going into the 4 game baker and then fell behind Byron Center for the win. Zach Baum, Phillip Wiegand, Tyler DeJonge, Jacob Salas were awarded all tournament medals who were within the top 10 bowling performances of the day. The all conference bowlers were Tyler Dejonge ending the season with a 211 average (3rd in conference) and Phillip Wiegand with a 205 (4th in conference). Gabe Reyes was also awarded honorable mention with a 176 average. Our regionals will take place this Friday and Saturday at Starlite Lanes in Grand Haven. The top three teams will advance to state.
