Game Recap

The Chix welcomed the Dux of Zeeland West for The District Tournament opener on Tuesday night. After a scoreless first half the Dux opened the scoring with two goals midway through the second half. The Chix kept pressing and finally broke through when Gabrielle Hunderman took a Grace Miller Corner Kick Cross and volleyed the ball in the top corner. With less than 3 seconds left, the Dux caught the Chix in transition to add a final tally making the score 3-1. Erica Potter has 11 saves in the goal for the Chix.

Following the game Coach Elgersma said “The Zeeland West Dux are a talented, well coached team, who we greatly respect. We played well tonight and created some chances but in the end their talent won out. I can’t thank our team enough for a season of effort, of growth, and of constant learning. We never ever quit trying to get better which gives us a wonderful foundation for the future.

A special thanks to our seniors Mikayla Greenlund, Tayte Barense, Erica Potter and Shelby Suits. These four Senior are such top notch people who will be sorely missed. Thank-you for four incredible years of relationship, soccer and most importantly life shared together.”
