On Thursday, November 3, Friday, November 4, 2011 and Saturday, November 5, Zeeland participated in the 2011 Girls OK Rainbow Swimming and Diving Championship Meet hosted by the Holland Aquatic Center. Holland swam to a first place in the team competition with 599 points with Zeeland second with 479.5 points, Hamilton finished third with 322.5 points, Holland Christian was fourth with 295 points, and Muskegon/Mona Shores fifth with 147 points. Senior diver Sarah Kamstra continued her outstanding season by diving to a first place finish, rebreaking her own Zeeland West record, and setting a Holland Aquatic Center Pool Record with a total score of 502.55 pointsfor 11 dives. Sophmore swimmer Rachel Hoeve captured first place in the 500 Freestyle with an outstanding time of 5:04.83. Sophmore Jillena Everest swam to a first place finish in the 100 Breastroke with a fantastic time of 1:07.91. Swimming to top eight finishes for Zeeland were Rachel Hoeve (3rd in the 200 Freestyle), Morgan Kollen (4th in the 200 Fr and 4th in the 500 Fr), Sarah Rapisarda (6th in the 200 Fr), Jillena Everest (3rd in the 200 IM), Emily Villanueva (6th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 100 Br), Ally Schermer (8th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 100 Bk), Jordan Bullock (2nd in the 50 Fr and 2nd in the 100 Fly), Kaitlyn Mariuz (6th in the 50 Fr), Morgan Kamps (6th in the 100 Fly), Melanie Hoeve (8th in the 200 Fr with a state qualifying time and 6th in the 100 Fr), Bri Berens (8th in the 500 Fr), Leah Ritsema (4th in the 100 Bk), Julia Calcut (4th in Diving), and Abby Schermer (6th in the 100 Br). In the relay events, Zeeland’s 200 Medley Relay of Leah Ritsema, Jillena Everest, Jordan Bullock, and Kaitlyn Mariuz swam to a second place, the 200 Freestyle Relay of Kaitlyn Mariuz, Sarah Rapisarda, Leah Ritsema, and Melanie Hoeve finished third, and 400 Freestyle Relay of Sarah Rapisarda, Morgan Kollen, Melanie Hoeve, and Jordan Bullock finished 2nd. The next contest for the girls is Diving Regionals and the State Meet.
