Game Recap

The Zeeland Women’s Varsity Water Polo team fell to Rockford tonight 8-2 in their first game back from Spring Break. The team fought valiantly but in the end, ran out of gas in the second half. Zeeland led 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half, but Rockford kept coming and Zeeland couldn’t find an answer offensively to the Rams.

Jenna Schrotenboer scored both goals for the team and Rylie Toth continued her onslaught of water polo thievery with 5 more steals. Emma Nellis made 12 saves in goal.

“We played really well in the first half and that continued into the second. Once Rockford scored a few early in the third quarter, I thought the pressure to score right away got to us and we lost some of our early edge. Overall, I was really happy with our effort. The rest will come through more game experience.” Coach Dave Vruggink
