++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

FAQ’s

Who needs to take this?
Any athlete who has not yet taken the test for the 2015-2016 school year, except those who took the test last year.  If you have questions please contact your athletic trainer or the athletic office.

What is this for?
The ImPACT test is a baseline test of brain function that will be used if an athlete sustains a concussion to help determine if any brain function is impaired.

I took this test 2 years ago so why do I need to take it again?
Because brains in high school develop at such a quick rate it is recommended that athletes be tested every 2 years to ensure that the baseline test reflects where the brain is currently functioning.

How long will the test take and do I need to bring anything?
The test will take about 45 minutes start to finish. Parents to do NOT need to stay for the test and you do not need to bring anything with you.

If I go to East do I need to take the test at East?
No, all testing is done at West High School due to a larger availability of computer labs. During the test, each student will enter his or her school’s code to indicated which school they attend.

Where is room E-130 at West?
Room E-130 is located in the E2 Wing at West High School just past the Dux Pond (School Store).

Please be sure to choose a date and time. Testing sessions are subject to change if we don’t have any sign-ups for that particular day and time.

For questions please contact:

Game Recap

The varsity water polo team fell to Grand Haven on Wednesday night, 4-10. In a tough game for the Dux and Chix, the ball struggled to find the back of the net. Jonathan Kollen scored the majority of the team’s goals with three and he also had two steals. Austin Mills added the lone other goal and had two assists to Jonathan. Despite the struggles on offense, the team, particularly the seniors, played well defensively. Philip DeJonge had four steals while Jon Michael Hoeve had three steals and a field block. Brendan Pinner continued his streak of ten or more saves with twelve blocks in front of the net.

As this was the last home game of the season, the team celebrated its seniors and all of their accomplishments. Congratulations to Logan Cook, Philip DeJonge, Jon Michael Hoeve, Austin Mills, and Brendan Pinner for their great water polo careers. Everyone is planning on attending college next year. Logan and Jon are currently undecided, Austin and Brendan will be attending Michigan State University, and Logan is going to Oakland University.

The team will play in a high-level Rockford tournament this weekend to wrap up the regular season. That should hopefully prepare the team for the postseason which begins next weekend with the district tournament in East Grand Rapids.
