Meet Your Athletic Trainer!
Hello! My name is Jason Burgess. I am your head athletic trainer at Zeeland East High School and an employee of Holland Hospital. This is my second year as a Chick after moving back to West Michigan from Indiana.
While in Indiana, I spent two years serving as a Graduate Assistant athletic trainer for Valparaiso University where I worked with their NCAA Division I football team and back-to-back Horizon League champion baseball team. During my time at Valparaiso, I also earned my Master’s degree in Sports Administration.
Prior to Valparaiso, I completed my undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training along with Bachelor’s degrees in Health Science and Exercise Science. I am nationally certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) in Athletic Training and licensed in the state of Michigan as an athletic trainer. I am also nationally certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I also serve as a preceptor for the Grand Valley State University and Hope College Athletic Training Education Programs. As a preceptor, I regularly have athletic training students who observe and work along side me in the athletic training room and on the field.
I currently reside in Hudsonville with my wife, Rachel, our dog, Murphy, and cat, Sasha.
